It was a beautiful, warm day in Los Angeles. The protesters enjoyed the gorgeous weather, albeit guiltily - because they knew that the animals in UCLA's vivisection dungeons would never get to enjoy a bright sunny day. Rosenbaum injects Botox into and sticks metal coils onto the eyes of restrained primates in order to simulate strabismus, a common condition referred to colloquially "crossed" eye and for which a simple and effective operation has been in existence for at least five or six decades. Primate vivisector Nelson Freimer, experiments on imprisoned vervet monkeys in a sick attempt to simulate "human" conditions such as bipolar disorder, Tourette's syndrome (TS), and manic depression. Sources who have been inside Freimer's lab have told activists that they have witnessed Freimer doing despicable things to monkeys, including depriving them of water and taking young away from their mothers to induce "experimental stress." First stop was the neighborhood of Arthur Rosenbaum, at 465 Loring Avenue in Los Angeles. Activists distributed leaflets to neighbors, letting them know what he does to primates every day of the week ensconced behind the cinderblock walls of UCLA's animal torture chambers. They chanted, "We will never compromise while Arthur sticks coils into primates' eyes. . . and then ignores their suffering cries!" and, "We will never compromise while Arthur injects Botox into primates eyes." Arthur's home is now a veritable fortress - amped up with state-of-the-art surveillance equipment. Arthur must recognize what an evil monster he is to have to protect himself with such high-tech gadgetry. This also demonstrates what a strong compulsion Rosenbaum has to torture primates; Rosenbaum would rather fulfill his sick obsession and engage in grotesque experiments on non-human primates, collect his grant money and employee a twenty four hour security guard outside his home surrounded by high tech surveillance equipment, rather than do the right thing and pursue clinical trials and other non-animal based research that will be much more beneficial to those with sight problems. Three cop cars followed the activist's van from Rosenbaum to the neighborhood of Nelson Freimer, at 453 12th St. in Santa Monica. If you were to judge by the police presence, you'd have concluded that Osama Bin Ladin, himself, was protesting at ol' Nels' house! Santa Monica's finest were next to their cop cars, (which were blocking two streets adjacent to Freimers home,) as they attempted to intimidate activists from engaging in freedom of speech. The excellent legal observer pulled out cases and shared them with the Sergeant to back up activists right to picket on a public sidewalk. The police were hoping to cite activists for violating the new, unlawful ordinance that the Santa Monica City Council recently passed; a "special" cop wearing shorts was there to measure off a fifty foot bubble around Freimers home! What they didn't realize was that the ordinance had not gone into effect yet; so the cop holding the measuring tape had to sit there and watch from the sidelines. Freimer's wife looked out from the window and was seen flipping off the activists!! Satisfied that their message was delivered to both abuser and neighbors, protesters departed without incident. |
